Privacy Policy
This policy says what information A Kitchen Society collects, why, where it is kept, who else can see it, and how to get it changed or deleted. It is written to be read, not skimmed; if anything is unclear, write to admin@wanderingwu.com.
1. What we collect
| Information | Where it comes from | Why we have it |
|---|---|---|
| Name and email address | You, or the administrator who invited you | To sign you in, send sign-in and account emails, and show who did what inside the application |
| Recipes, ingredient lists, photos, price lists and costing scenarios | You or your kitchen's staff | To store, cost and share recipes as the service is designed to. Personal recipes are yours; a kitchen's recipes belong to that kitchen |
| Invoice-derived item prices and order guides | Synced from WanderingWU when your kitchen is connected to it | To cost recipes at what your kitchen actually pays |
| Usage and technical logs: pages visited, actions taken, IP address, browser type, timestamps | Your browser, automatically | Security, troubleshooting and keeping the service working; kept for 90 days |
| Cookies | Set by the application | Only what sign-in and security need (session, authentication, request forgery protection). No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies |
We do not collect payment card numbers, bank details, government identification numbers, health information or precise location.
2. How we use it
To provide the service you or your organization asked for, to keep it secure, to answer support requests, and to send the emails the service needs (invitations, sign-in codes, password resets, and notices about changes to the service or this policy). We do not sell personal information and we do not use your data to advertise to you or anyone else.
A Kitchen Society and WanderingWU are operated by the same company and can be connected by a kitchen's administrator; when they are, recipe costs flow to WanderingWU and item prices flow back. Nothing is shared between them without that connection.
Personal costing in A Kitchen Society can look up shelf prices through the Kroger Developer API. The request carries the ingredient name you typed and the store you chose; it carries no account information about you, and no Kroger shopper account is involved.
3. Who else can see it
Three kinds of parties, and no others:
- Your organization. When your account belongs to an organization or kitchen, its administrators can see the data filed under it and who filed it. The organization decides who its members are.
- Service providers that run the application for us. Hosting, database, file storage and email, all in the United States. The current list is on our Security page, with what each one sees.
- When the law requires it. We disclose only what a valid legal demand compels, and we tell the affected customer unless the law forbids it.
4. Where it is kept, and how it is protected
In the United States, encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, with backups that expire on a fixed schedule. Access inside WanderingWU LLC is limited to named administrators using multi-factor authentication, and we open a customer's data only to resolve a request they made. The full description, including our hosting provider and the planned migration to Microsoft Azure, is on the Security page.
5. How long we keep it
For as long as your account or your organization's subscription is active. When an organization leaves, or you ask us to delete your account, we delete the data within 30 days; copies in backups expire with the backup schedule. Usage logs are kept for 90 days. Where a customer asks us to keep an export for them first, we do that before deleting.
6. Your choices and rights
- See and correct your profile from your account page at any time.
- Export your data: your recipes, invoices, sales and reports export from the application; anything else on request.
- Delete your account: from your account page, or by email. If your account belongs to an organization, we confirm with its administrator first, because the data may be theirs.
- Object or ask questions by writing to admin@wanderingwu.com. We answer within 10 business days.
If you are in a place whose law gives you additional rights (the EU, the UK, California, among others), you have them, and the same address is where to use them.
7. Children
A Kitchen Society is a tool for kitchens and the people who run them. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
8. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes in a way that matters, we email account holders before the change takes effect and update the date at the top. Small clarifications are made without notice.
