Terms of Use

A Kitchen Society (akitchensociety.com) · Operated by WanderingWU LLC, Columbus, Ohio · Draft of October 31, 2026, not yet in effect

Draft. These terms are being reviewed and are not in effect yet. Free sign-up opens once they are. Questions or comments: admin@akitchensociety.com.

These terms are the agreement between you and WanderingWU LLC ("we") for using A Kitchen Society. They are written to be read. By creating an account, or by using the site with one, you agree to them. Reading a public story or recipe needs no account and no agreement beyond using what you read fairly.

1. What A Kitchen Society is

A tool for writing, costing, scaling and printing recipes, for kitchens and for home cooks. A story is a recipe with a short story, photos and an optional YouTube video, on a page of its own; a collection groups stories into a trip or a series. It is about food: no ads, no feeds, no follower counts.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old. One person per account; keep your password to yourself.
  • Use an email address you can receive. A free account starts working once you confirm it; unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 7 days.
  • If an organization (a restaurant, a kitchen group) invited you, that organization also decides what you can do in its kitchens, and the recipes you write there belong to it.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using it.

3. Plans

There is a free plan and paid plans, with the limits shown in the application (how many recipes, saved recipes and stories, how much photo storage, Kroger price lookups). Paid plans are not being charged for yet; before any charge we will show the price and you will choose it. Reaching a limit stops new items; it never deletes anything. If we lower a limit that affects you, we tell you first.

4. What you post is yours

You keep ownership of everything you put into A Kitchen Society: recipes, stories, photos, captions and notes. So that we can run the service, you give us permission to store it, make the copies the service needs (resized photos, backups), and show it to the people you choose:

You set it toWho can see it
PrivateOnly you (and your organization's administrators, for work recipes)
UnlistedAnyone with the link; not listed on your page or in search engines
PublishedAnyone; on your page at akitchensociety.com/@yourhandle and open to search engines

When a story is Unlisted or Published, signed-in readers can save it (a link back to your page) and make their own copy of the recipe to cook from, change and cost for themselves. Their copy is credited to you with a link to your story, and it contains the recipe's text only: never your photos, and never your prices. A copy a reader made stays theirs even if you later make your story private or delete it.

This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups, which expire on their schedule, and readers' copies, as above. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to advertise.

5. What you may post

Only what you have the right to post. In particular:

  • Your own words and photos, or ones you have permission to use. Do not copy another person's recipe write-up, story, photos or video. Cooking a dish you learned elsewhere is fine; say where it came from.
  • About food. Stories are about a dish: where you ate it, how you make it.
  • Honest. If you were paid, sponsored or given the food or product for free, say so in the story.
  • Not: other people's private information; harassment or hate; sexual content; anything illegal or dangerous; spam, advertising or links meant to sell; pretending to be someone else.

6. Copyright and other complaints

If you think a page on A Kitchen Society copies your work, use Report this page on it, or write to admin@akitchensociety.com. Tell us which page, what of yours it copies (a link to your original helps), how to reach you, and that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized. We review every report. If a page breaks these terms, we take it offline; the author keeps their content and can ask us to look again. Accounts that copy others' work repeatedly lose the ability to publish, or their account.

7. Publishing and moderation

Anyone with an account can share a story Unlisted. Publishing it (on your page and in search) needs our approval once per author. We may hide a page, turn off an author's publishing, or close an account that breaks these terms. Hiding takes a page offline for everyone but its author; it does not delete it. We are not obliged to review everything posted, and we may make mistakes; tell us when we do.

8. Sponsors

A Kitchen Society carries no ads, ad networks or trackers. We may place a sponsor on a story, a collection or a featured series, only with the author's agreement: one card with the sponsor's name, logo and a plain link, always labeled Sponsored. Authors may not place sponsor content themselves except as section 5 asks: by saying so in the story.

9. Food, allergens, nutrition and costs

Recipes and stories are written by the people who post them. Allergens shown on a story are the ones its author marked; nutrition and cost figures are estimates. Check ingredients and labels yourself, especially for allergies, and cook safely. Nothing on A Kitchen Society is medical or dietary advice. Prices come from your own price list, your organization's invoices or retail shelf prices (Kroger) and may not match what you pay.

10. The service

We work to keep A Kitchen Society running, secure and backed up (see the Security page), and we may change, add or remove features. The service is provided as it is: we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for more than you paid us in the 12 months before a claim.

11. Leaving

You can delete your account at any time from your account page, or by email. Your stories and collections go offline when you do; what we keep and for how long is in the Privacy Policy. We may close an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

12. Changes to these terms

When these terms change in a way that matters, we email account holders before the change takes effect and update the date at the top. If you keep using A Kitchen Society after that, the new terms apply.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA. If you live where the law gives you rights these terms cannot take away, you keep them.
